The brief

The story crossed harvesting, handling, food production, smoking, packing, design and the founder's perspective. The challenge was to bring those stages together as one clear account of the business, rather than present them as a list of separate processes. The founder's voice needed to provide the human through-line while the film also showed the regional network and practical work behind the finished product.

How it was made

Filming took place on location with a small, hand-picked crew able to move efficiently through working environments. The camera followed the product from source to finished tin, combining interviews with observational footage of the people, places and processes at each stage. Coverage was planned around the sequence of production so the edit could reveal how separate businesses and skills contribute to one recognisable product.

What was delivered

A campaign film commissioned by Brand South Australia as part of its South Australian Stories series. Ben Dowie directed, filmed and edited the project, working with producer Emily Dawe, first camera assistant Sam Dawson and sound recordist Fazz Farrell. The finished film connects the character of the founder and brand with the regional supply chain behind it, giving the audience a clear view of both the product and the people responsible for making it.
